My roommate was working as a cashier at a store which sold items that required training on how to lift items properly. She did not receive this training and as a result strained her back and missed a week worth of work. While receiving workers comp, she still has to deal with a back injury. Her employer has since trained her how to lift properly but it was unfortunate that this employer did not take the time to train employees before an injury occurred.

My uncle Bryan Gaudet was a drilling rig worker for a company in northeastern B.C. Bryan lived in Kelowna and already had a beautiful son with his wife and they were expecting another on the way (she was 8 months pregnant).
Bryan and his crew were working on a natural gas well when he was struck by a piece of equipment.
He was transported by on-site medical services to Tumbler Ridge Health Centre where he died of internal bleeding.
We miss him today - we will miss him forever. His unborn son was named after him. We call him baby Bryan.

I lifted a box that wasn't labeled properly. It was much heavier than I thought it was, and I hurt my back when I lifted it.

When I was at work, I fell off a loading ramp and landed on plywood that had nails sticking out of it. I cut and tore my right ear.
