Q:After watching Jamie's story, we have a question... Was Jamie compensated after his accident? If not, why? If so, how much and from whom? What steps would someone need to take to get compensated?
-Kathleen
A:Thanks for your questions Kathleen. The WSCC compensated Jamie for his injury. Compensation can include covering the costs of rehabilitation therapy and hospital visits, money for missing time from work, and sometimes re-training if you’re not able to return to your old job because of your injury.
If your get injured at work, there are three steps you must follow:
1) Tell your employer;
2) Get medical treatment if required; and
3) Fill out and send in a WSCC Claim: Worker’s Report of Injury form to the WSCC.
After the WSCC receives your form, they will work with you and your employer to determine the next steps. Depending on the circumstances, this may include compensation.
